MSOC: Hawks Stop Swords

Sato scores his team-high third goal of the season vs. Holy Names.
Box Score HONOLULU – The Chaminade men's soccer team continues to seek its first win of the year, falling to Holy Names, 5-2, in a Pacific West Conference match on Thursday at St. Louis Field.

The Silverswords fell to 0-15 on the season and 0-11 in the PacWest. The Hawks improved to 5-8-2 on the season and 4-5 in the conference.

Dayton Sato opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 15th minute, his team-high third goal this season. The Hawks' Jaime Phillips counted in the 31st minute, tying the game at 1, the first of his three goals of the game.

Holy Names took a 2-1 lead when a mad scramble for the ball in front of the Chaminade goal ensued and Andro Fistonic was Johnny-On-The-Spot, kicking the ball into the goal with only three seconds left in the half.

After a Hawks' goal made it 3-1, Matt Davies scored his second goal of the year, finding the net at the 57-minute mark, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

However, the Hawks had other ideas, scoring two more second half goals, putting the game out of reach.

Chaminade attempted 20 shots in the contest, its third-highest total of the year. The Swords also took seven shots on goal, its second-best effort this season.

The Swords return to action for their final game of the 2013 season when they host Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
