W. Tennis: Swords Downed by Metro State 7-2

Takara a part of both wins for Chaminade

GLENDALE, AZ – The Swords dropped a non-conference match to Metro State 7-2 this morning in the final contest for Chaminade 2013 GCU Tennis Tournament.  Chaminade junior Jan Matsumoto (Honolulu, HI /Maryknoll) and freshman Kim Takara (Mililani, HI/Mililani) earned their second straight win at #2 doubles, defeating the Roadrunners Sam Schall/Marianne Evangeliste 8-3.  Takara also won her #2 singles match 6-3, 6-3 over Alicia Holm.

Coach Rothhammer added: “The tournament was a good starting point for the team and has prepared them for upcoming matches.  Roni and Shayla had tough, long matches and Kim picked up her first singles win.”
 
Chaminade is back in action at home on February 21st against Hawaii Pacific at 10 AM HT at the Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio, HI. 
 
With today's loss, Chaminade moves to 0-7 on the year.  Metro State moves to 7-7 on the year with the win.
