W. Tennis: Chaminade Falls to Western New Mexico 9-0

GLENDALE, AZ – The Swords fell to Mustangs of Western New Mexico today, the second day of the 2013 GCU Tennis Tournament.  Chaminade battled at #1 doubles as junior Jan Matsumoto (Honolulu, HI/Maryknoll) and freshman Kimberly Takara (Mililani, HI/Mililani) battled the duo of Ashley Newell and Ganna Tiurina of the Mustangs before losing 8-4. Western New Mexico swept the singles matches and the remainder of the doubles for the overall sweep.

Coach Rothhammer discussed the match: “Western New Mexico was too tough today, but the ladies fought hard and we are getting better with each match we play.”
 
Chaminade is back in action on Friday vs. Azusa Pacific at 6 PM MT at the Paseo Racquet Club in Phoenix, AZ.
 
With today's loss, Chaminade moves to 0-3 on the year.  Western New Mexico moves to 3-1 on the year with the win.
