WAIPIO, HI- The Chaminade women's tennis team couldn't overcome a slow start and eventually fell, 6-2, to the College of Idaho at Central Oahu Regional Park today.
In doubles action to begin the day, the Silverswords lost two close contests as the duo of
Melanie Schumilas (Waterloo, Canada/Bluevale Collegiate Institute) and
Roni Hewett (Julietta, ID/Clarkston) fell to Shae Stults and Jamie Taylor, 8-7, in No. 1 doubles. The Swords'
Kimberly Takara (Mililani, HI/Mililani) and
Shayla Hosaka (Kailua, HI/Castle) couldn't overcome the Lady Yotes' Hayley Hutchings and Emily Tesnohlidek, and lost, 9-7, in No. 2 doubles.
The Swords bounced back in singles matches, with Schumilas downing Stults, 6-4 and 6-1, at No. 1, while in No. 2 singles, Takara defeated Taylor, 6-2 and 6-1. But the Yotes slammed the door, picking up wins in No. 3-6 singles.
