HPU Tri-Match Rounds 1 & 2WAIMANALO, O'ahu – After shooting a first-round team score of 300 during the morning round at the Olomana Golf Club, the Chaminade University men's golf team rallied in the afternoon second round to forge a first-place tie with BYU-Hawai'i at the HPU Tri-Match Tuesday.
The Silverswords fired a second-round 291, their lowest 18-round total of the non-championship fall season, tying the Seasiders for a 36-hole total of 591 heading into Wednesday's final round. Host Hawai'i Pacific is 11 shots behind.
Jarin Harada is second individually at 2-under 142 after carding back-to-back 1-under 71s. The junior from Maryknoll School is two shots behind leader Nicolas Herrera of BYUH, who is 4-under.
Freshman
R.J. Garczynski is only a shot behind Harada after posting a 1-under 143 and sits alone in third place.
JT Trevathan rebounded from a 7-over morning round to shoot 1-over in the afternoon, putting him at plus-8.
Justin Taparra shot 79-76 for a total of 155 while
Lucas Park (82-75) rounds out the Silverswords five-some with a 157.
Wednesday's final round at Pearl Country Club gets underway at 9:22 a.m.
