Box Score OAKLAND, Calif. – Tuesday was a historical day for the Chaminade University women's soccer team in their Pacific West Conference opener.
The Silverswords scored a 2-0 win over Holy Names at T-Bird Stadium, marking the program's first-ever win on the Mainland. Paired with the 'Swords men defeating the Hawks earlier, it was also the first time in school history both the men and women won on the same day since Chaminade began sponsoring soccer on the intercollegiate level in 2006.
The Silverswords picked up their first win of the season to improve to 1-3 overall. The win is also the first time the 'Swords are 1-0 in conference since 2011. Holy Names fell to 0-5 and 0-1.

Lauren Ishii only needed one save to earn the victory while the Hawks' Jenni Dooley took the loss to drop her record to 0-3.
Twyla Hamasaki got the 'Swords on the board in the 66
th minute as the Iolani graduate got a pass from
Bree Chang and found the right corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

Shannon Wright and
Brittany McClay.
"I'm proud of the way the girls galvanized prior to the game," Silverswords head coach
Michelle Richardson said. "All the ladies put forth a quality effort. Each player set goals for the game and achieved them.
"This shows the team that when you put in the work and trust in one another, great things are possible."
The Silverswords controlled most of the contest, taking 16 shots with seven on goal, both season-highs. The 'Swords also allowed only four shots all game, with just one in the second half.
Chaminade continues the road trip and will face Dominican University of California on Thursday.
