Round 1 ResultsKAHUKU, O'ahu, Hawai'i -- The Chaminade University men's golf team opened their 2014-15 non-championship season Tuesday in second place at the BYU-Hawai'i Tri-Match at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course.
The Silverswords shot a 296 in the opening round, 20 shots behind leader and host, BYU-Hawai'i. Hawai'i Pacific University trails the 'Swords with a 298.
JT Trevathan, who missed the 2014 championship season due to an injury, fired an even-par 72 to lead all 'Swords golfers, putting him at sixth overall.
Jarin Harada is at 1-over 73, followed by
R.J. Garczynski, who made his Chaminade debut with a 3-over 75.
Justin Taparra shot 4-over, followed by freshman
Lucas Park (5-over). It's the first time under second-year head coach
Renee Yuen's tenure that all five participants shot under 80 while not playing at their home course.
The Seasiders' Riley Bunker is the individual leader with a 5-under 67.
The tri-match concludes Wednesday with the 18-hole finale at the Turtle Bay Palmer Course.
