Final Round Combo ResultsFinal Round Individual ResultsST. GEORGE, Utah – Chaminade University wrapped up the season with a ninth-place finish at the 2015 Pacific West Conference Men's Golf Championships Wednesday at the par-72, 6,888-yard Sunbrook Golf Course.
The Silverswords shot a final round 22-over-par 310 to finish the three-day tournament at 77-over 941, just one shot behind eighth-place Academy of Art and three behind seventh-place Notre Dame de Namur. Host and 16
th-ranked Dixie State won the team title with a 14-over 878, just one stroke better than Dominican.
Chaminade junior
Jarin Harada finished in a four-way tie for seventh place with a 5-over-par 221 after carding a final round 3-over 75, the highest-ever finish by a Silversword in the PacWest Championship. The previous best was by Layne Morita who had a 10
th-place finish in 2009. Kavan Eubank of California Baptist won the PacWest individual championship with a 3-under-par 213.
"He stayed in the moment throughout each round and scored consistently well this week," Silverswords head coach
Renee Yuen said. "This is a big honor for our program.
"Naturally, it was a little disappointing to finish as we did, but we have a young and inexperienced squad," she continued.
The 'Swords second-year coach did note that the team improved their score each round (316-315-310). "We … kept close to the schools right ahead of us," Yuen said.
With two birdies on the final day, Harada finished with 10, tied for seventh-most during the tournament. The Maryknoll School graduate also had the second-best score on par-4s with an average of 4.03 and was tied for sixth-best on par-3s at 3.25.
Sophomore
Justin Taparra finished in 33
rd at 22-over 238 after carding a final round 8-over.
Freshman
R.J. Garczynski shot 6-over in the final round to finish just a shot behind Taparra at 23-over 239. Garczynski and Harada each had 32 pars during the tournament, tied for 10
th-most.
Freshman
Lucas Park had the 'Swords' second-best score in Round 3, firing a 5-over 77 to finish 39
th at 27-over 243.
Junior
Ryan Look rounded out the Chaminade squad at 4-over 264, finishing 49
th overall after a final round 13-over-par 85.
"I look forward to all the players returning next year and a stronger team will be more competitive," Yuen said.
