Box scoreLAIE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – For the second time in three days, the Chaminade University women's tennis team faced off against Hawai'i-Hilo. And for the second straight outing, they found themselves on the short end of a 7-2 decision at the BYU-Hawai'i Tennis Courts.
Kimberly Takara accounted for both Silversword wins, teaming with
Kauanoe Beamer in No. 1 doubles as they defeated the Vulcans' Trixie Croad and Chelsea Sato. The Takara-Beamer duo improved to 2-0 on the season.
Takara also won her first singles match of the season, downing Croad, 6-4, 6-4, in No. 1 singles.
Michelle Bucher nearly forced a third set, falling in No. 2 singles to Kinsley Volkart in a Set 2 tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
Beamer and
Emma Haurillon also accounted well in both of their career singles matches, with Beamer dropping a 6-3, 6-4 to Sato and Haurillon pushing Anne Casey, 6-2, 6-4.
Chaminade is 0-2 on the season while UH-Hilo improved to 2-0.
The Silverswords will face No. 9 Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
