Women’s Tennis Downed by HPU

WAIPAHU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team faced their first ranked opponent of the season, dropping a 9-0 decision to No. 9 Hawai'i Pacific University Thursday at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
 
In doubles action to begin the match, the Silverswords' No. 1 doubles team of Kimberly Takara and Kauanoe Beamer dropped an 8-1 decision while in No. 2 doubles, Michelle Bucher and Emma Haurillon lost to the Sharks' duo of Nicole Hoynaski and Kristyna Hancarova, the fourth-ranked doubles team in the nation, 8-0.
 
In singles competition, Takara fell to Hancarova, the 15^th-ranked singles player in the nation while Bucher fell to No. 41 Hoynaski, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Chaminade is 0-3 on the year while HPU improved to 3-0.
 
The 'Swords return to the court Feb. 29 against second-ranked BYU-Hawai'i at CORP Field.
