Box scoreLAIE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team returned to action for the first time in over three weeks and dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 1 BYU-Hawai'i Thursday at the BYUH Tennis Courts.
The Seasiders, who moved up to the nation's top spot in the latest ITA national rankings, improved to 18-0 on the season. The match was played to a first-to-five format.
The Silverswords fell to 0-9.
Teaming in No.1 doubles for the first time this season, Chaminade's
Michelle Bucher and
Kauanoe Beamer lost, 8-0, to BYUH's Dallas Zhang and Summer Wen, the second-ranked doubles team in the country.
In singles action,
Kimberly Takara took a game from Zhang, who is the No. 1 singles player in the nation, while Bucher managed to take two from Karen Liu, ranked seventh. Both matches were halted after BYUH won the necessary number of sets to take the match.
The 'Swords conclude the season Friday when they face the Seasiders at the BYUH Tennis Courts at 2 p.m.
