WAIPAHU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Dominican University of California Tuesday at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
The Silverswords proved competitive in the doubles session with their No. 1 team of
Elyssa Shirai and
Tomomi Kohno falling to the Penguins' Alex Wartenburg and Rickimae Torres, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles,
Kim Spring and
Hannah Parker managed to take a game from Solveig Karlsen and Cori Beeby in an 8-1 decision.
In her first match in No. 1 singles, Shirari fell to Skyler Schaar, 6-0, 6-0. Four other 'Swords also made their first appearances in new spots in singles action (
Cai Yan Fang, No. 2; Kohno, No. 3;
Emma Haurillon, No. 4; Spring, No. 5).
The Silverswords return to action Thursday when they face Hawai'i Hilo at 9 a.m. at Ala Moana Beach Park.
