Women’s Tennis Ends Season at No.1 BYUH

LAIE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team ended the 2017 season, falling to No. 1 BYU-Hawai'i, 9-0, Friday at the BYUH Tennis Courts.
 
Playing in her final career match, senior Kim Spring teamed with Hannah Parker in No. 3 doubles, taking two games from McKenna Lloyd and Hailey Daniels before falling 8-2.
 
Spring also won a first-set game against Daniels in No. 5 singles in her 6-1, 6-0 loss.
 
Meanwhile, the Silverswords showed glimpses of promise as freshmen also managed to take games in their matches. Elyssa Shirai fell to Summer Wen, the 11th-ranked singles player in the nation, 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles while Cai Yan Fang dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Leah Hemuli.

With BYUH ending intercollegiate athletics at the end of the academic term, the match was also the final between the two programs, ending a series that dated back some three decades.
 
The Silverswords ended the season 1-14 while the Seasiders improved to 23-0.
