On the Silverswords
Chaminade completed a record-setting season with a 23-5 mark, setting a school record for wins. The Silverswords also went 17-5 in the Pacific West Conference, breaking another mark for most conference wins, and finished in a tie for third with Hawai'i Hilo. The 'Swords have the conference's top two hitters in All-PacWest First Team and D2CCA All-West Region Second Team member
Emma Tecklenburg (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) and PacWest Second Team honoree and Newcomer of the Year
Alana Handy (Burlington, Wash./Bethune-Cookman Univ./Burlington-Edison) who put down 3.46 and 3.35 kills per set, respectively.
Brooke Bell (Escondido, Calif./North Idaho College/Calvin Christian HS), an all-conference second team honoree, was third in the PacWest and sixth nationally in hitting percentage (.404) while
Skyler Curry (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake), who was named to the all-conference honorable mention squad, helped the 'Swords finish ninth nationally in assists (13.65). All-PacWest Third Team honoree
Rachel Reedy (Temple City, Calif./Arcadia) rounded out the 'Swords' balanced attack by hitting .349 (sixth in the PacWest) and 2.83 kills (10th), the only hitter in the conference to finish in the top 10 in both categories. CUH ended the regular season ninth in kills per set (14.63) and 23rd in hitting percentage (.250). They also held opponents to a .154 attack percentile.
On the Coyotes
Cal State San Bernardino is a regular in the West Regional and has won seven regional finals including last season. Despite being the No. 1-ranked team in the AVCA Division II Poll, the Coyotes are the No. 2 ranked squad in the region by virtue of their loss to regional host and No. 1 seed Western Washington earlier in the year. CSUSB boasts the nation's fifth-leading attacker in Alexis Cardoza, the CCAA's Player of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player, who is fifth nationally in kills per set (4.65). Setter Jayann DeHoog is eighth in the country in assists (11.94) while the Coyotes boast two of the country's top eight percentage attackers with Sascha Dominique (third, .412) and Hailey Jackson (eighth, .398). As a team, the Yotes are sixth in the nation in hitting percentage (.272) and are holding opponents to a .153 hitting percentage.
