KAILUA-KONA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team completed the Holua Invitational against familiar foe, Hawai'i Hilo, the second meeting in three days.
As it was in the first, the Vulcans came away with a 9-0 win Sunday at the Holua Tennis Center.
Salamasina Te`i (Hau'ula, Hawai'i/Kahuku) and
Emma Haurillon (Yigo, Guam/St. Thomas Aquinas) teamed together in No. 1 doubles for a second straight match. The Silverswords' other tandems were
Cai Yan Fang (Zhongshan, China/McKinely) and
Elyssa Shirai (Waipahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) at No. 2 and
Hannah Parker (Kihei, Hawai'i/St. Anthony) and
Jackie McGreal (Pasadena, Calif./Marathana) at No. 3. Fang and Shirai managed to take two games in their match.
For the second straight day, Te`i drew No. 1 singles and faced Daniela Sanz, ranked 38
th in the nation. The freshman managed to take two games in the first set before dropping the second 6-2, 6-0.
McGreal was the only other 'Sword to take a game in singles action, falling 6-1, 6-0 to Irena Le at No. 6.
The Silverswords face nationally-ranked Hawai'i Pacific in their next match on Feb. 26 at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
