IRVINE, Calif. – Eighty-seven student-athletes from Chaminade University were named Tuesday to the 2018-19 Academic All-Pacific West Conference Team.
It is the fourth time in the past five years that 80 or more Silverswords earned academic all-conference honors. A total of 92 were listed but five were dual-sport athletes, adjusting the total to 87.
For large roster sports (11 or more student-athletes), men's soccer had 14 earn Academic All-PacWest kudos followed by women's soccer, women's volleyball and softball with 12 each.
In small roster sports (10 or less), women's tennis attained perfection. All eight who were eligible for academic all-conference honors made the list. Women's cross country had six followed by men's cross country with five.

Alyssa Tanigawa (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle), a 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team honoree, was one of six senior student-athletes from the PacWest who completed their undergraduate studies with perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point averages.
A total of 1,553 student-athletes in the conference were named Academic All-PacWest.
To be earn Academic All-PacWest recognition, student-athletes must have a minimum career GPA of 3.00, have completed two semesters at their current institution and competed in at least one regular season game or competition during the academic year. Chaminade competes in 10 of the conference's 15 sponsored sports.
