IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's tennis is picked to finish 14th in the Pacific West Conference Coaches Poll released Wednesday.
The Silverswords received 14 points in the poll. Two-time defending champion Hawai'i Pacific was picked to win the conference.
The 'Swords have four returnees from last season's squad including junior
Catrina Liner (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) who played all 14 singles and all 13 doubles in the No. 1 position. Also back are seniors
Tomomi Kohno (Tokyo, Japan/McKinley),
Cai Yan Fang (Zhongshan, China/McKinley) and
Elyssa Shirai (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City), the latter two who are entering their fourth years on the team.
Chaminade opens its season on Friday, Feb. 14 against Dallas Baptist at the Fairmont Orchid Tennis Center on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. The 'Swords make their home debut on Monday, March 2 at the Diamond Head Tennis Center against Division I Stetson University.
