The Chaminade University women's tennis team was honored Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for academic excellence.
The Silverswords were named an ITA Division II All-Academic Team honoree, the fourth consecutive year earning the award. As a team, the 'Swords compiled a 3.602 cumulative grade-point average during the 2019-20 academic year.
Individually,
Cai Yan Fang (Zhongshan, China/McKinley),
Tomomi Kohno (Tokyo, Japan/McKinley),
Kayleen Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui),
Catrina Liner (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis),
Mariel Navarro (Manila, Phillipines/McKinley) and
Elyssa Shirai (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) were all individually honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
To be named as an ITA All-Academic Team, squads must have a team GPA of 3.2 or better, all student-athletes be listed on the institutional eligibility form with all varsity letterwinners being factored into the cumulative GPA for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
