HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team has checked in at No. 6 in the first set of NCAA West Regional Rankings released Wednesday.
Cal State San Bernardino is the top-ranked team in the West followed by Western Washington, Simon Fraser, Cal State Los Angeles and Alaska Anchorage, respectively.
Nos. 7 through 10 are Central Washington, Cal Poly Pomona, Azusa Pacific and Biola.
The Silverswords are 2-4 against the top 10, splitting their two matches against Alaska Anchorage in Honolulu in late August and getting a neutral site win against Central Washington at the Western Washington Invitational in early September. They have a road loss at WWU and were swept by Biola.
The regional advisory committee will release the next rankings on Nov. 10. The NCAA Selection Show will be announced on Monday, Nov. 22. The top eight teams from each region will receive berths to the Division II regionals which begins Dec. 2 on host campus locations.
Meanwhile, the postponed Azusa Pacific match originally scheduled for Oct. 30 in Azusa, Calif., will be made up on Monday, Nov. 8 at McCabe Gymnasium at 7 p.m.. The regularly scheduled Nov. 10 match is still on. APU currently leads the PacWest at 10-1 followed by Chaminade (11-3 PacWest) in second.
