IRVINE, Calif. – Three members of the Chaminade University men's soccer team were named Wednesday to the Pacific West Conference Hawai'i Team as voted by the conference coaches.
Jamin Fonseca (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani),
Tatsushi Hirata (Tokyo, Japan/Monroe College/Wako HS) and
Takahiro Kosins (Tokyo, Japan/Colorado Mesa/Kalani HS) were named to the 13-member pod team.
It is the first all-conference honor for both Fonseca, a senior midfielder, and Kosins, a senior forward. Fonseca is the team's captain and played in three matches, all starts. Kosins started all four games during the spring, totaling 273 minutes, tied for the second-most among the team's attackers.
Hirata, a sophomore defender, played three matches, all starts. Like Kosins, he also played 273 minutes.
Fresno Pacific's Felipe Souza was voted as the PacWest Player of the Year while Gilly Miller of Academy of Art was the Newcomer of the Year. Point Loma had three of the conference's awards with Matthew Abangan earning Defender of the Year, Ryan Piece Goalkeeper of the Year and Phil Wolf Coach of the Year.
