HONOLULU – Chaminade University Athletics announced Wednesday the hiring of Joshua Woodard as its new men's soccer head coach.

An O'ahu native, Woodward spent two years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Hawai'i Hilo, for both the men and women in 2017 before moving exclusively to the women's squad in 2018. With head coach Gene Okamura, the Vulcans' women compiled a 17-13-2 record including a 10-4-1 mark in 2018 to help them to a runner-up finish in the Pacific West Conference standings.

Woodard was also a head coach on the prep level, taking Kamehameha-Hawai'i to consecutive BIIF titles in 2018 and '19, reaching the HHSAA Division II championship game both years. He also guided the Warriors to a fifth-place state finish in 2020. While at both UH Hilo and Kamehameha, Woodard was the Assistant Director of Coaching with the Hawai'i Rush Soccer Club in Hilo for nearly eight years. Most recently, he was the head coach for the Hawai'i Rush 06B squad in 2020 through 2021.

Woodard played his high school soccer at Waianae High School, where he was a three-time All-OIA First Team selection.

Woodard is the ninth head coach in Chaminade men's soccer history.
