Cammillucci, Stucchi, Talpash Named All-Region

12/4/2024 12:12:00 PM

Outside hitter Letizia Cammillucci (Padova, Italy/San Jose State/Liceo Amedeo di Savoia Duca D'asosta HS), middle blocker Anna Stucchi (Roncello, Italy/Santa Clara University/I.I.S. Ezio Vanoni HS) and setter Grace Talpash (Temecula, Calif./University of Oklahoma/Great Oak HS) of the Pacific West Conference champion Chaminade University women's volleyball team have been named to the All-West Region Teams by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

Cammillucci earned first team honors by the AVCA while Stucchi was also named to the AVCA's first team as well as the D2CCA second team. Talpash earned AVCA honorable mention and D2CCA second team honors.

Cammillucci ended the regular season tied for ninth in the Pacific West Conference with a 2.99 kills per set clip and led in both total service aces and aces per set at 58 and 0.54, respectively. Her ace totals are 13th in all of Division II while her ace average was 26th. She was the Silverswords' kill leader in 12 matches and was second on the team in digs, recording eight double-doubles. The transfer from San Jose State had a pair of matches were she had six aces.

Stucchi leads the PacWest with a .441 attack percentage, which is also third in all of Division II and is on track to break the single-season record of .421 set in 1992 by Chaminade Hall-of-Fame member Terri Bertulfo. The senior transfer from Santa Clara University is also 10th in the conference in points at 3.44 per set to help her earn All-PacWest First Team honors. She was also the PacWest Newcomer of the Year, marking the sixth straight season the 'Swords have won that award.

Talpash thrived in her second year wearing a Chaminade uniform. After being a role player in 2023, the graduate transfer seized the reins of the starting setter spot during this summer's fall camp and put together an all-conference campaign, earning First Team All-PacWest and the conference's Setter of the Year award. The Temecula, California, native finished second in the conference in assists per set (9.37) and helped spread the attack with six different 'Swords who played in at least 50 sets average over a kill per set. A six-rotation player, Talpash also had 93 kills, 221 digs, 31 service aces and 38 total blocks.

Samantha Campion of Cal Poly Pomona was named the D2CCA West Region Player of the Week while the AVCA region Player of the Year went to Emily Elliott of Cal State Los Angeles. The AVCA also recognized Point Loma's Saren Rogers as the region Freshman of the Year and CPP's Tracy Dahl as Coach of the Year.

The Silverswords (27-4), who are ranked No. 4 in the latest AVCA Top 25 rankings, will open the NCAA West Regional on Thursday as the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed Stanislaus State in a first round match. First serve is expected to be at 2:30 p.m. Hawai'i time with free streaming on FloCollege.
