IRVINE, Calif. – Former Chaminade University women's volleyball student-athlete
Hula Crisostomo (Honolulu/Univ. of Texas El Paso/Moanalua HS) on Friday was announced as the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The graduate transfer from Honolulu garnered numerous accolades in her only year as a Silversword. The Moanalua High School graduate was the PacWest Libero of the Year, a first team all-conference libero, a first team all-west region pick in both the AVCA and D2CCA, and College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team.
On the court, her 590 total digs led the PacWest while her 4.92 digs average ranked 17th in Division II and finished ninth in the conference in service aces per set (0.36). She had 30 double-digit digs matches and 12 matches of 20 digs or more.
In the classroom, Crisostomo has a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in studying for a Master's in Counseling Psychology.
Crisostomo is one of 15 student-athletes from PacWest institutions who were selected as Scholar-Athletes of the Year in each of the conference's sponsored sports. She is now eligible for the overall PacWest Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced in early July.
