LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chaminade University point guard Morgan Escobedo (Scottsdale, Ariz./Pinnacle) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The sophomore tallied 25 points, 17 rebounds, nine assists and eight steals in helping the Silverswords split their two PacWest games over the weekend while also setting or tying three career highs. It is her first career weekly conference honor and is the second Silversword to earn the player of the week award. Sameera Elmasri (Shawnee, Kan./Birmingham-Southern Univ./Saint Thomas Aquinas HS) earned the recognition on Dec. 16.

In Thursday's 64-63 win over Westmont, Escobedo pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds while her layup as time expired netted her first career double-double. She also set a career high with seven steals.

On Saturday against Vanguard, Escobedo posted a career-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, her third straight double-digit scoring game, while tying her career high with six assists. She also brought in six rebounds.

In her last four games, Escobedo has averaged 11.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.5 steals per outing. She is sixth in the PacWest in assists (3.2 per game) and third in steals (2.5).

The Silverswords (4-9, 3-4 PacWest) wrap up their four-game home stand this week when they host Biola and nationally ranked Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
