Sina Bauer (Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany/Maximillian-von-Montgelas Gymnasium Vilsbiburg) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week.
The sophomore recorded 42 digs last week including a career-high 27 in Saturday's five-set win over the University of Hawai'i Hilo on the Big Island. She also had 15 in last Monday's reverse sweep of CUI to help the Silverswords extend their current winning streak to eight as well as their conference streak to 31 straight matches.
Bauer is among the PacWest's leaders in digs at 3.68 per set and has averaged over four digs per set in 11 matches this season. Her passing has also helped the 'Swords in holding opponents to a .154 hitting percentage this season
Point Loma's Abigail Nua was the conference's player of the week while Fresno Pacific earned the team of the week award.
The Silverswords open a stretch of seven matches on O'ahu including six at McCabe Gymnasium. The home stand begins Friday against Biola University at 6 p.m. for "Dig Pink" Night where fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
