St. George, UT- Chaminade fell this evening to Dixie State 3-1 in the second matchup between the schools in as many days.
The Swords got off to a great start winning the first game handily. CUH took a 10-10 tie and made it 21-14 and cruised to a 25-19 win to go up 1-0. The second game was a battle, as the two teams were tied on six different occasions in the game. The last tie at 18-18 signaled the start of a Dixie State run, when the school from St. George scored five consecutive points and won the second game, 25-19.
Games three and four were more of the same, competitive hard-fought battles. Dixie took both 25-17 and 25-18 to win the match. Senior Trina Kauliakamoa led the Swords with 12 kills and 11 digs. Vanja Radanovic added 4.5 blocks.
Tanya Alvino added 27 assists for Chaminade in defeat.
Amanda Goddell and Mariesa Nielson led Dixie State with 15 kills each. CUH was out-dug 82-71 on the match.
Tanya Alvino (12 digs) along with Trina Kauliakamoa and Kristy Inamasu (11 digs each) led the Swords defensively.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 8-8 on the year. Dixie State improves to 5-7. The Swords are back in action on October 3rd vs. Grand Canyon. Game time is set for 7:00 MT.
