CUH WVB: Swords Downed by Dixie State in Four Sets

Lorusso leads Swords with 18 kills

Honolulu, HI- The Swords lost a Pac West Conference tonight in four sets (19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25) to the Red Storm of Dixie State.     

 

Freshman Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had a double-double for CUH with 12 kills and 12 digs. Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) notched 18 kills for Chaminade.

 

Senior Chauntelle Maduli (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led the Swords with 23 digs to go along with 11 kills in defeat.  Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 47 assists for CUH. 

 

Chaminade lost the first two sets, but showed no quit, coming back to win set three and force a fourth set.  The Red Storm responded, taking set four and the match. 

 

The Swords won the dig battle 83-81.  Dixie State won the battle of hitting percentage .199 to .178.   

 

The Red Storm were led by Katie Luna with 21 kills and 16 digs. 

 

With the loss, Chaminade drops to 4-19.  Dixie State moves to 14-6.  The Swords are back in action at home on Friday, Oct. 30th against UH-Hilo.  First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
