CUH WBB: Swords Fall to Drury 98 to 49

Honolulu HI- Chaminade kicked off the 2009 Hoop N Surf tournament today against Drury University and lost 98 to 49. Chaminade had three players in double figures; Samantha Saito, Kellene Costello and Kayci Will.  

Senior point guard, Samantha Saito led the way with 12 points. She shot 6 for 8 from the free throw line and she also dished out 6 assists. Kellene Costello and Kayci Will each added 10 points for Chaminade.

Chaminade was out rebounded by an extremely large margin, 39 to 17. Chaminade shot well from the charity line. They made 9 of the 18 shots they took. As a team they shot nearly 41%, compared to 61% from the floor for Drury.

Drury was the led by Amanda Gibbons, who scored 15 points and 4 rebounds. All five starters were in double figures at the end of the game. As a team, they shot 50% from beyond the arch, going 10 for 20.

With the loss the Silverswords fall to 1-3overall while Drury improves their record to 7-4 overall. The Silverswords next game is against George Fox University on December 20th at 6:00PM. This game will be played at the Kilauea Gym and will be the conclusion of the 2009 Hoop N Surf Classic for the team.
