CUH WBB: Lady Swords Fall 56 to 67

Kristen Canencia scores 15 points & 3rebounds, Markeshia Manning adds 14 boards & 7 points in loss to Lutes of PLU

BOXSCORE.htmTacoma, WA- The Lady Swords played the first of a three game mainland series tonight against the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University. Despite losing 56 to 67, the team for the most part, played pretty well. One word characterizes this loss, turnovers.
 
Chaminade turned the ball over 25 times, 15 of the 25 came in the first half alone. Despite the large number of turnovers, Chaminade continued to battle and fight the Lutes, in fact it wasn't until the last minute of the 1st half that either team led by 3 or more points. CUH turned the ball over with 1:49 to go in the 1st half and that turnover resulted in two points for PLU, which in turn put them up by 5 points. The Lutes never lost the lead again and despite a heartfelt battle by the Lady Swords, the team's effort proved to be not enough when the final buzzer sounded at the Olson Auditorium in Tacoma, Washington.  
 
Sophomore guard, Kristen Canencia, led the team with 15 points and 3 rebounds. Canencia shot 80% from behind the arch. Junior Kayci Will added 14 points and went 6 for 6 from the charity line. Sophomore guard, Jamie Higa, contributed with 11 points of her own. Perhaps the most impressive stat of the night was the play of freshman forward, Markeshia Manning; she grabbed 14 boards and added 7 points for CUH.
 
The Lady Swords shot relatively well from the floor the entire night, they connected on 36% of their shots. While the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran shot an impressive 48% from the floor.

The Lady Swords next travel to  Ellensburg , Washington and will participate in the Central Washington University tournament, they will play two games in the tournament and return home to the islands on November 21st. CUH will take on Central Washington and 7PM PST, 5PM HST on Friday, November 19th. With the loss Chaminade falls to 0-2 on the year and Pacific Lutheran University captures its first win on the year, they improve to 1-0.
