Honolulu, HI-The Swords took down Montana State Billings of the GNAC conference tonight, winning in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20) to improve to 3-4 on the year. The match marked the end of the non-conference slate for the Swords.
Three Swords finished the match with 10 kills. Junior
Allie Board (Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame) continued her steady play for the Swords, getting 10 kills while sophomore
Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific) matched her total with 10 kills of her own. Freshman
Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) also added 10 kills to go along with 14 digs.
Senior setter
Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) led the CUH offense, setting up 38 assists and tacking on 2 kills for good measure. The quarrel at the net was even at 10 blocks a piece for both teams.
Junior
Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) continues to lead the defense, this time digging 17 MSU Billings attacks. The Swords won the dig battle 67-60. Chaminade outhit the Yellowjackets .163 to .034.
MSU Billings was led by outside hitter Jennifer Boe with 11 kills.
With the win, Chaminade moves to 3-4. The Yellowjackets move to 0-8. The Swords are back in action next Saturday, September 18th at 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym. Chaminade faces HPU in Pac West Conference action.
