San Francisco, CA – The Lady Swords fell behind early and never recovered, the Urban Knights scored 5 quick points and held the lead for the remainder of the game. CUH did not score a basket for about the first five minutes of play. At halftime, Chaminade trailed by a sore of 40 to 9.
The Achilles heel for Chaminade all season long has been their field goal shooting percentage, CUH had a really hard time shooting the rock this game, in the first half they shot just 8% and they ended up shooting just 21% on the night. While Academy of Art University, shot an impressive 52 from the floor during the 40 minute contest.
Chaminade was led by Sophomore
Jamie Higa, she led the team with 14 points and 5 Assists.
The Urban Knights leading scorer was Jessica Nolan, she scored 21 points, Verity Peets added 18 points of her own and Nicole DeRosier contributed with 17 points and 3 boards for the Urban Knights. Chaminade lost the rebounding battle 34 to 38. AAU committed 22 turnovers to the Lady Swords 29.
AAU shot an impressive 79% from the charity line, connecting on 19 of 27 shots. CUH on the other hand, also shot well, connecting on 56% their shots, going 10 for 19. However, despite the good shooting from charity line, the Lady Swords needed to shoot the ball better from floor to win this game and tonight they were unable to do that.
With the loss Chaminade falls to 1-17 on the year and 1-10 in the PacWest. The Urban Knights of Academy of Art University improve to 8-14 overall and 6-7 overall in the PacWest Conference. The Lady Swords continue their mainland road trip, with Dominican University on February 19th. The Lady Swords next game is against Dominican University in San Rafael, California. Tipoff is set for 5:30PM PST.
