CUH MSOC: Chaminade Effort Comes Up Short, GCU wins 3-1

Gerwalt scores for Swords

HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade Men's Soccer continues to look for its first win of the season and despite another close match against a tough Grand Canyon team, fell in a 3-1 defeat this afternoon.     
 
The first half saw Chaminade take an early 1-0 advantage off freshman Max Gerwalt's (Wiesbaden, Ger/ Europaschule) finish from a Kyle Withoft (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) pass. 
 
The 'Lopes Nick Sykes answered in the 27th minute and GCU tallied another goal in the 45th minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. 
 
Grand Canyon added a goal in the 78th minute to secure a 3-1 final. 
 
Freshman goalkeeper, Jose Miguel Pena (Santiago, Chile/St. George's) had 3 saves for the match. 
 
Saeed Robinson led the way for the 'Lopes with 4 shots on the match. 
 
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 0-6-1, 0-2 and Grand Canyon moves to 4-2, 1-1.  The Swords are back in action on September 27th at 4:30 PM HT against NDNU.
