Tauau leads with 15 points in defeat

The game went back and forth in the second half as the Silverswords and Penguins were both fighting for a win.  Following a Rhani Kaneaiakala (Waimanalo, HI/Kamehameha) offensive rebound, junior Nikki Tauau (Oxnard, CA/Pacifica) knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 50-50 with 2:34 left in the contest.  Dominican's Kayla Valentine responded with back-to-back layups to give the Penguin's the win.

Coach Keanini commented: “We ran good offense and got good looks, we didn't make some shots we can make.  We did a very good job out-rebounding them.  They're big.  Dominican played well.  On our side, we were able to make a run to tie the game, but we ran out of gas.”

Dominican was led by Kayla Valentine with 21 points.  Chaminade out-rebounded the much taller Penguins 48-47.

Chaminade is back in PacWest action on Jan. 21st at Notre Dame de Namur (5:30 PM PT).  The next home contest is Jan. 30th against Grand Canyon. Tip is set for 5:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
