CUH WVB: Swords Fall to #8 BYU-Hawaii in Four Sets

Spring leads Chaminade with 12 kills

Box Score LAIE, HI- Chaminade lost in a PacWest Conference match at #8 BYU-Hawaii in four sets this evening at the Cannon Activities Center by scores of 25-22, 15-25, 15-25 and 13-25.
 
Chaminade got their offense going in the first set, hitting .306 and earning the first set victory. It was only the third set BYU-Hawaii has lost since September 6th.   The 'Siders responded to win the next three sets to win in four sets.
 
Junior Kapiolani Rapoza (Kailua, HI/Sacred Hearts) was impressive for CUH with 7 kills on a .438 hitting percentage.  Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) led Chaminade with 12 kills.  Junior setter Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/Robertson) led Chaminade with 20 assists.    
 
Freshman Brenda Walker (Honolulu, HI/McKinley) led the Swords with 11 digs.  BYU-Hawaii out-dug the Silverswords 53-38 on the match. 
 
BYU-Hawaii was led by Shih Ting Chen with14 kills. The 'Siders have now won 19 consecutive matches.
 
Coach Kabalis commented on the match: "We were in full force in set one. Everything was clicking and we worked hard to each point for that first set win. The next three sets were a different story. We were missing big keys to success- our serve receive passing, smart attacking and aggressive serves. We are ready to hit the gym tomorrow for practice and gear up for our rematch with UH-Hilo."
 
The Swords fall to 6-15, 3-10 PWC with the defeat. BYU-Hawaii moves to 20-2, 15-0 PWC. Chaminade takes on Hawaii-Hilo at McCabe Gym on November 5th. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT.
