WVB: Chaminade Sweeps Vulcans in McCabe!

Viveiros leads Chaminade with 11 kills in win

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Nine days after competing against the Vulcans of UH-Hilo in Hilo for a set and a half, CUH and UHH finally had a chance to compete to a conclusion tonight in McCabe Gym. The Swords took full advantage, earning an impressive three-set PacWest Conference victory over the Vulcans of UH-Hilo.
 
The Swords got going right away, winning set one 25-13, hitting .278 for the set.  CUH continued their solid play, taking set two from the Vulcans 25-17.  Chaminade wrapped the match up with another impressive set, taking the third and final set 25-16. 
 
CUH senior Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led the way with 11 kills, while Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) added 10 kills on a .450 hitting percentage. Junior setter Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/Robertson) led the way with 21 assists for the Silverswords.  Chaminade hit .324 as a team. 
 
Freshman Brenda Walker (Honolulu, HI/McKinley) was impressive defensively with 22 digs.  CUH out-dug UHH 48-33 and held UH-Hilo to a .115 hitting percentage. 
 
Hawaii-Hilo was led by Bria Morgan with 11 kills.
 
The Swords improve to 7-15, 4-10 PWC with the win. Hawaii-Hilo moves to 4-16, 4-10 PWC. Chaminade takes on NCAA Division I foe Cal State Bakersfield at McCabe Gym on November 9th. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT.
