Box Score SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's basketball team is probably happy to see the end of their first Mainland road trip this season. The Silverswords will return to Honolulu after going 0-4 on the road, dropping a 77-53 decision Saturday to Dominican University of California in a Pacific West Conference game at the Conlon Center.

Lilia Maio and Shana Kawakami paced Chaminade (2-15 overall, 2-9 PacWest) with 10 points each. Glacen Florita had nine, followed by Kennedi Akana, Hanna Curtius and Kristle Henry with eight. The six were the only ones to get in the scorebook for the visitors. Maio also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Salonika Quewon-Owens led the Penguins (4-14, 4-8) with 19 points and six boards. Sarah Nelson had 12 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. Nelson has recorded 11 blocked shots against the 'Swords this season.

"We did a lot of good things, but Dominican is playing really well at this time," Chaminade head coach Bobby Keanini said. "The most physical game we played all year and they had an edge in strength and size. Tough road trip but trying to get better all the time."

CUH trailed by 16-6 early on, but managed to whittle the deficit to four on two occasions, the last coming with 4:13 left on layups by Kawakami and Akana to make it 29-25. But DUC held the 'Swords scoreless the rest of the way while the Penguins scored seven with Carly Holboke getting six on two 3-pointers to grab a 36-25 lead at intermission.

The Silverswords' drought continued when play resumed in the second half as Dominican scored the first seven points to open up a 42-25 lead to help put the contest away early.

Chaminade shot 30.5 percent from the floor and was held to only seven made baskets in the second half. Dominican made 38.4 percent of its shots and outrebounded the 'Swords, 54-38.

The Silverswords return to McCabe Gym on Monday, Feb. 3, when they host second-place Azusa Pacific. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. with live streaming audio available on goswords.com.
