GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team made its 2014 regular season debut at the Paseo Presidents Day D2 Dual Thursday, dropping an 8-1 decision to Pacific West Conference foe and 26th-ranked Academy of Art (2-0) at the Paseo Racquet Club.
The No. 2 doubles team of
Kimberly Takara and
Jan Matsumoto logged the Silverswords' only win of the afternoon, downing the Urban Knights' Jenny Johansson and Kinga Kurczbuch, 8-6.
The 'Swords (0-1) will play a pair of matches in the second day of the Dual on Friday, first against Cal State Stanislaus of the CCAA at 12 p.m. MST, followed by fellow PacWest member Dixie State at 6 p.m. MST.
