’Swords Tennis Drops Decision to CSU Stanislaus

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team held their own in Arizona's desert, but ended up falling 9-0 at the Paseo Presidents Day D2 Dual at the Paseo Racquet Club.
 
The loss dropped the Silverswords to 0-2 on the season. The Warriors improved to 2-0.
 
The 'Swords had two competitive singles matches with Melanie Schumilas giving McKenzy Harden all she could handle before falling, 7-6 and 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Then in No. 2 singles, Kimberly Takara pushed J'Ana Diamond, but eventually came up short, 7-5, 6-4.
 
All three of Chaminade's doubles matches were highly also toughly contested. The 'Swords' No. 1 team of Takara and Jan Matsumoto fell to Diamond and Jessica Laurie, 8-5, while the No. 2 team of Schumilas and Roni Hewett pushed the CS Stanislaus duo of Harden and Analyssa Tallas to a 9-7 decision. In the No. 3 spot, Isel Barba and Satzy Pulido also hung tough, eventually falling to Jessica Stokes and Kaitlyn Ireland, 8-4.
 
The Silverswords play again this evening at the Paseo Racquet Club against PacWest foe Dixie State.
