GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team hung tough against Dominican University of California on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as they fell to the Penguins, 7-2, in the Paseo Presidents Day D2 Dual at the Paseo Racquet Club.
DUC took two of the first three sets during doubles action as the duo of
Melanie Schumilas and
Roni Hewett tallied the lone win for the Silverswords. The CUH team of
Kimberly Takara and
Jan Matsumoto battled, but fell to Irina Morozova and Caitlin Aloia, 9-8 (7-1).
Schumilas, playing the No. 2 singles spot, defeated Aloia, 6-1, 6-3, for the only win for Chaminade in singles.
The 'Swords conclude the Dual on Sunday against Pacific West Conference affiliate member Sonoma State.
