GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team concluded the Paseo Presidents Day D2 Dual with a 9-0 loss to Pacific West Conference foe Sonoma State Sunday at the Paseo Racquet Club.
The Silverswords fell to 0-5 on the season. The Seawolves, a PacWest affiliate member in tennis only, improved to 3-2.
The 'Swords No. 1 doubles team of
Kimberly Takara and
Jan Matsumoto hung tough against Sonoma State's Sara Celma and Kaitlyn Haithcock before dropping an 8-5 decision.
In No. 2 singles, Takara battled Leire Martinez, but fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
The Silverswords return home and face Hawai'i Pacific on Friday at Corp Field at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park. The match is slated to start at 10 a.m.
