WAIPIO, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team fell to Holy Names, 6-3, Tuesday at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
The Silverswords opened the day capturing 2-of-3 doubles matches with the team of the
Kimberly Takara and
Jan Matsumoto downing the Hawks' Taylor Barajas and Jessica Ho, 8-6. Then
Roni Hewett and
Melanie Schumilas defeated Prisilla Corbin and Lexi Bevins, 8-4.
But in singles, HNU won 5-of-6 to take the match. Takara was the only singles winner, coming from behind to down Ho, 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.
The 'Swords next will be in action on Monday against nationally-ranked BYU-Hawai'i in Laie, the first of two matches in three days against the Seasiders.
