Box Score 2 The Chaminade University women's volleyball team road trip continued Friday, falling to Seattle Pacific in four sets, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, during the second day of the PacWest/GNAC Crossover the Conlon Center at the Dominican University of California campus.
The loss dropped the Silverswords' record to 1-2 in the tournament. The team rebounded later that evening against Pacific West Conference foe Holy Names, downing the Hawks, 25-9, 25-11, 26-24, in a non-conference match at Tobin Gymnasium.
The 'Swords (6-2) wrap up the Crossover on Saturday when they face Simon Fraser at 7 a.m. HST. The team then heads to Oakland to face Mills College in their final non-conference match of the season at 4 p.m. HST.
Seattle Pacific 3, Chaminade 1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22)Suncica Bakic and
Cassie Rushlow led Chaminade with nine kills each as the Silverswords dropped back-to-back matches for the first time this season.
Madalene Barrett contributed with seven kills while
Ku`ulei Lynch had six kills and five total blocks.
Valentina Bevilacqua tallied 25 assists and 15 digs.
Madi Cavell led the Falcons (6-2) with 14 kills.
The match started off swimmingly for the Silverswords, who got two Bakic kills plus another one along with a service ace from Rushlow during a key 8-2 run. It broke a 12-all tie to help the 'Swords grab a 1-0 lead as Chaminade hit .419 in the set while holding Seattle Pacific to a .148 percentage.
In Set 2, the Falcons used 6-1 run to turn a one-point deficit to a 14-10 lead, which they would not relinquish.
In the fourth set, Seattle Pacific threatened to run away with an easy deciding match winner, but the 'Swords had other ideas. With their backs to the wall, down 18-22 and out of timeouts, Chaminade got kills from Lynch and Bakic and a
Waihilo Chartrand ace to square the set at 22. But the late deficit proved too much as the Falcons benefited from two 'Sword errors to end the match.
The third and fourth sets proved costly for the Silverswords, who committed 20 attack errors on 15 kills for a -.075 hitting percentage. For the match, Chaminade was held to a .091 percentage, its lowest of the season, while getting out-blocked, 14-9.

Barrett put down eight attacks for the 'Swords, whose .441 hitting percentage on the night is their highest of the season. Lynch accounted for five kills while Johnson and
Catherine Thomason had four each. Bevilacqua had 23 assists while Chartrand had eight digs and five service aces.
Chaminade dominated in nearly every phase, leading in kills (38-21) while committing only eight hitting errors, assists (34-21), digs (22-13) and aces (9-2).
"It was a good way to end after a tough loss to Seattle Pacific," Silverswords head coach
Kahala Kabalis Hoke said. "We came out focused and I'm happy with the way we played against Holy Names."
