IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University midfielder
Noah Mokulehua (Waimanalao, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kaiser) and defender
Curtis Coburn (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) have been named to the All-Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Third Team in voting conducted by the conference coaches.
Mokulehua finished second on the team in goals (6) and points (14) to earn all-conference third team kudos for a second straight year. He had four game-winning goals and led the PacWest in game-winning average at .308. The sophomore already is the team's career leader in points with 22 and, in last Saturday's win at Hawai'i Hilo, tied
Sam Galloway's program record with his ninth career goal.
Like Mokulehua, Coburn also repeated as a third team all-conference selection from last season. He is just the second Silversword honored as a three-time All-PacWest honoree (
Chad Nishikuni, 2006, '07, '08). An attacking defender, the senior knocked in his eighth career goal on Saturday, one shy of Galloway's and Mokulehua's career record. His 18 career points is tied for second all-time. Coburn also helped Chaminade's defense in allowing 2.13 goals per game, fifth-lowest in program history.
The duo helped the 'Swords finish with a school-record nine wins and their fourth-place finish was the highest-ever.
PacWest champion Azusa Pacific, the No. 1-ranked team in Division II, dominated the individual honors, taking five of the six categories. Isaac Bawa was the Player of the Year, Orlando Lozano was Defender of the Year, Brendan Fix was Goalkeeper of the Year, Daniel Osei-tutu was Freshman of the Year and Dave Blomquist was Coach of the Year. Point Loma's David Achaerandio was the Newcomer of the Year.
