Cheyenne Ardona of women's basketball. The Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i native showed marked improvement from her freshman year, increasing her scoring and rebounding averages. The sophomore posted 21 blocked shots this past season, tied for the third-most in single-season history.
Q (GS.com): What are you missing the most about Chaminade?
A (ES): Seeing my friends every day. I didn't realize how much time I spent at school and how much I appreciated it until we weren't allowed to go anymore.
Q: Outside of distance learning, what did you do to pass the time?
A: I've been going to the beach and spending LOTS of time with family.
Q: What are you doing to keep your spirits up during the situation?
A: I've been trying to stay busy every day. Since I have nothing but time on my hands, I have finally done some things around the house that I had pushed aside for weeks.
Q: How are you staying connected with you coaches and teammates?
A: I've been staying connected by Zoom and texts. Everyone has been keeping in touch to make sure we are safe and healthy.
Q: Have you learned any new skills or picked up new hobbies that you otherwise would not have if not for the current situation?
A: Since the lockdown happened, my family and I have been cooking almost every day. Before, we barely had time to do so but now we have time to cook all our meals at home.
Q: What is your favorite on-the-field or on-court memory from this past 2019-20 year?
A: My favorite memory was going to Alaska. It was so beautiful and it was really awesome to play those really talented teams.
Q: What is the first thing you will do after we return to a sense of "normalcy?"
A: The first thing I'll do is to finally go out to eat at a restaurant with all of my friends.
