HONOLULU – Chaminade University women's basketball head coach
Arthur King announced Monday the signing of three additional recruits to National Letters of Intent for the 2020-21 season.
Paige Relph
Paige Relph is a 6-2 forward from Waianae High School in Waianae, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Originally from Las Vegas, Relph was the O'ahu Interscholastic Association scoring champion at a 18.0 per game clip which ranked fourth among all Division I schools in the state. She hit double-digits in each OIA game with season-highs of 24 points three times including one against OIA West Division co-champion Mililani on Jan. 10. Relph is a two-time All-OIA West selection and was voted to the first team this past season while also garnering ScoringLive All-Hawai'i honorable mention honors.
"We are excited that Paige chose to play for our Chaminade ohana," King said. "Paige is a great scorer around the basket and also blocks and contests shots on defense. Paige has the potential to play in the key and on the perimeter. Her energy and joy for the game is a great fit for our team."
Mary-Lee Mitchell is a 5-10 guard from Curtis High School in Staten Island, N.Y. An injury six games into her senior year caused her to miss most of the season but she returned to the lineup in the league playoffs to finish the season with a 9.3 scoring average. Early in her junior season, Mitchell scored her 1,000th career point, which is a norm in her family. Her mother, Clare Guerriero, and three aunts were all 1,000-point scorers in high school while her sister was a 2,000-point scorer at Staten Island Academy.
Mary-Lee Mitchell
"Mary is a talented all-around player with good footwork and balanced," King said. "Mary always keeps herself in good position to see the entire court and she is an exceptional passer. We feel fortunate that Mary chose to be a part of our ohana at Chaminade."
Lile Hina Oyama is a 5-1 guard from Kalani High School in Honolulu. She played on the Falcons' varsity squad all four years, leading them to Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Championship appearances each season. Three of them were in the Division I tournament. Known for her defense (Kalani's three-time defensive player of the year), Oyama earned All-OIA East First Team honors after scoring 136 total points which was 10th-highest in the OIA Division I ranks. She also led the OIA and was fourth in the state in free throw percentage at 72.7, making 40 of 55 tries from the charity stripe.
Lile Hina Oyama
"Lile brings to our team speed, tenacity and infectious confidence," King said. "Lile has very good on-ball defensive ability that will benefit our full-court game. She can score in a variety of ways along with being a really good passer. Choosing to stay home and play for our basketball ohana is great for us."
The trio joins
Taeya Blakeney (Kaiser HS; Honolulu),
Carsen Bridges (Leesburg HS; Groveland, Fla.),
Emily Laham (Maize HS; Potwin, Kan.),
Emma Morris (Tanque Verde HS; Tuscon, Ariz.) and
Sasha Phillip (Hawai'i Baptist Academy; Punalu'u, O'ahu, Hawai'i) as newcomers for the '20-21 season.
