Chaminade WVB: Swords Downed in Five Games to MSU-Billings

Lorusso led CUH with 13 kills

Honolulu, HI- The final day of the AQUA Hotels Hawaii Invitational concluded tonight at McCabe Gym.  It was another five set thriller for the Swords.  CUH started out hot, winning games one and two 25-17, 25-12.  Montana State Billings answered winning three straight (25-20, 25-18, 15-10) to take the win. 

 

Freshman Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid Pacific) had a double-double for Chaminade, collecting 12 kills to go along with 10 digs.  Senior Courtney Lorusso added 13 kills and 17 digs for the Swords.

 

Junior setter Tanya Alvino had 47 assists for CUH. 

 

MSU-Billings out-dug the Swords 61-53.  Chaminade won the hitting battle, .203 to .154.  

 

The Yellowjackets were led by Devon Crotteau with 18 kills.  Hillary Morrison led MSU-Billings with 39 assists. 

 

With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-2.  MSU-Billings improves to 2-2.  The Swords are back in action on September 4th in the California Clash Tournament at San Francisco State.  The Swords will play two matches that day, Cal State East Bay at 2 PM, Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 PM.
