LAIE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team fell in their first match of the 2015 season, 9-0, to BYU-Hawai'i at the BYUH Tennis Courts on Wednesday.
The Seasiders, ranked No. 4 in the latest ITA national rankings, took all three doubles matches before singles competition.

Melanie Schumilas managed to get points off the Seasiders' Marietta Tuionetoa, the 10
th-ranked singles player in the nation, before falling 6-1, 6-1.
Meanwhile, Chaminade's No. 2,
Kimberly Takara, faced BYUH's Dallas Zhang and the match was competitive in the early stages. Takara went toe-to-toe with against Zhang, the No. 2-ranked singles in the country despite suffering from leg cramps. Zhang survived the first set, 7-5, but Takara, who led the 'Swords in wins the last two years, decided to play through the second, eventually falling, 6-1.

Michelle Bucher battled Jade Griffin to a 6-1, 6-1 loss in No. 3 singles.
The 'Swords return to action Friday when they face Linfield College at BYUH. The match was originally scheduled to be their season opener on Tuesday, but rain at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park postponed the match.
