WAIPIO, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team returned to action for the first time in nearly two weeks Tuesday, dropping an 8-1 decision to Dominican at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Kimberly Takara returned from injury and won her third singles match of the season, defeating Gianna Cupo 6-1, 6-2, in No. 2 singles.
She also teamed with
Michelle Bucher in No 2 doubles, nearly defeating Kelly Zwicker and Chloe Vicari before dropping an 8-6 decision.
Meanwhile, Bucher battled Vicari in No. 3 singles, rallying from a set down, winning the second 6-4, before losing a third-set tiebreaker, 10-4.
The Silverswords fell to 0-8 on the season while the Penguins improved to 3-6.
Chaminade returns to action on Wednesday when they face Hawai'i-Hilo at CORP Field starting at 10 a.m.
