DR. EDISON H. MIYAWAKI was born in Hawai'i and raised in Japan until he was 17 years old.  Upon his return to the United States, Miyawaki’s ability to “think big and out of the box” opened doors to success through his beloved passion for sports, becoming minority owner of the Cincinnati Bengals, and in the medical field as the current President and CEO of Nu'uanu Hale and Liliha Healthcare.  With all the amazing accomplishments, the man they call “Doc” always pursued philanthropic ways to give back to organizations and individuals throughout the state.  In 2008, Miyawaki joined the Chaminade Board of Regents and galvanized their fundraising efforts by leading and creating the University’s largest event in the Intercollegiate Athletics Gala.  Since its inception in 2009, the Silversword Hall of Fame has inducted a reputable class of individuals and foundations who all stand with the best around town.  In ten years, Dr. Miyawaki has seen his vision become a reality, as the Gala has raised over $1.5 million toward benefiting the student-athletes and 10 sports program of Chaminade University.
