JEAN E. ROLLES graduated from Punahou School in 1954. She went on to attend Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, where she earned a B.S. degree in 1958. A year later, Rolles took on the challenge of becoming a restaurateur and helped establish the original Chuck’s Steak House, which developed into a chain of 50 restaurants throughout the United States. After 25 successful years in the restaurant business, she stepped into a new role as a property manager with Outrigger Hotels in 1982. Today, Rolles is the company’s Vice President for Community Affairs. Along with her many career accomplishments, Jean is also a proud graduate of the Chaminade University master’s program (Master of Science in Japanese Business Studies, ’93). Her strong connections with the University have prompted her to take on many proactive roles. She currently serves on the Board of Regents, is the chair of the Athletics Subcommittee, serves on the Athletics Gala Committee, and has been a generous donor to many projects benefiting Chaminade and its students. In August 2014, Jean was one of four individuals recognized for their support in the renovations of the Carlson Fitness Center Locker Rooms and Facilities, which are now available to students, faculty, staff and alumni. She is also very active in the community, serving on numerous boards and community affairs projects. With her boundless energy and “take life one day at a time” philosophy, Jean finds time to pursue all of her passions including playing tennis, traveling the world, and supporting charitable organizations.
